As a Secondary Music Teacher, you will teach KS3 and KS4 students both the practical and theoretical aspects of music, helping them develop confidence, structure, and skill over time.

Key responsibilities
Teach Music across KS3 and KS4
Deliver a balance of practical and theory-based lessons
Support students in performance, composition, and listening
Prepare students for GCSE coursework and assessment
Manage behaviour and movement during practical lessons
Encourage participation and confidence in all pupils
Track progress and provide clear feedback

The classroom environment
Lessons are organised and structured
Students understand expectations from the start
Practical work is focused and purposeful
Participation is encouraged across all levels
Behaviour remains calm and consistent

Skills and experience

QTS necessary
Experience teaching Music or strong musical background
Confidence delivering practical sessions
Strong classroom management
Organisation and lesson planning skills

Students participate more confidently
Performance improves over time
Lessons run smoothly and productively
Students feel supported while developing their skills
