SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism (Primary School)
Location: Canning Town
Pay: £95-£115 per day

We are looking for a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist ASD primary school in Canning Town. This role involves supporting pupils with autism across the primary age range, helping them access learning in a structured, nurturing and highly supportive environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils' communication, behaviour and independence, using consistent routines and tailored strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism

  • Support communication using visuals, symbols, PECS or other AAC methods

  • Assist with structured routines and transitions throughout the school day

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Support learning through practical and sensory-based activities

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team

  • Support personal care where required

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with autism (school or care setting)

  • Understanding of sensory needs and structured learning approaches

  • Confident, patient and consistent approach

  • Comfortable working as part of a team

  • Willingness to support personal care

  • Strong communication and safeguarding awareness
