Technical Project Manager

Location: Remote (UK residents only)

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:30

Contract - Fixed Term Contract until December 2025

Overall Purpose of Job

The Technical Project Manager will manage and control the delivery of complex technical change, solutions, integrations, and systems as part of the KMC Change Portfolio.

The role will be expected to engage with multiple business units within the organisational delivery teams to identify, plan and deliver critical services and solutions for dependent programmes and projects with strong alignment to the overall organisational strategic ambitions.

This role requires a technical background in development within digital technology products, demonstrating a passion for technology, an excellent understanding of technology and spends time looking out for what is new in the market.

The Technical Project Manager will support agile ways of working, innovation and continuous delivery, supporting the teams through stakeholder collaboration to ensure they have clarity on business goals with a focus on customer outcomes. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a key integral part of a wider Project team with a proven business relationship management alongside solid Project Management skills
  • Highly experienced in implementing bespoke Software solutions
  • Ability to understand the “big picture” technical architectures and how those can be translated into dependency maps to support coherent and effective delivery plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly define and articulate complex issues to challenging stakeholders
  • Able to translate technical team communications / status updates into clear and understandable exec-level updates
  • Detail orientated and able to plan and present at both a high and very detailed level; able to present complex technical solutions to both IT and senior business stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage and support teams with planning, impacting, scheduling and implementing changes and releases, making decisions which impact the success of assigned work, i.e. results, deadlines and budget. Support the allocation and management of resources aligned to the business priorities
  • Excellent vendor management skills, comfortable challenging suppliers as well as working alongside them to achieve a desired outcome
  • Excellent Risk and Issue Management skills, able to anticipate issues before they occur and take proactive preventative measures 
  • Experienced in the implementation, and assessment/planning for ongoing support and maintenance, ensuring a smooth handover to support teams
  • Excellent understanding of solution test and assurance, able to offer guidance on plans and other test activities 
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and items that may not typically fall under a Project Manager¿s remit 

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skills

  • Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of Agile frameworks (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), and an understanding of software development life cycle models as well as knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
  • Expert in Agile techniques such as, user story creation, estimation, velocity & dependency mapping, etc.
  • Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
  • Confident working with on shore and offshore team members
  • Confident in the management of suppliers/contractors
  • Proficiency in using tools such as ADO
  • Experience in managing the migration / development of services to the cloud, ideally Azure and AWS
  • Ideally, experience in delivering a broad range of Technical projects spanning infrastructure, networks, telephony, digital and software
