Semi-Skilled Maintenance Fitter/Handyman

Location: Kettering/Corby

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Contract

Shift: Days Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm 40hrs per week with overtime availability

About the Role:

We are seeking a Semi-Skilled Maintenance Fitter/Handyman to join our maintenance team in a food manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for building maintenance, site services, and general repairs, ensuring the site operates smoothly and efficiently.

This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive individual with experience in general maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting in an industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and minor electrical work.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on site facilities and utilities.
• Support mechanical fitting, welding, and fabrication tasks as required.
• Assist with the maintenance of site services, including HVAC, water systems, and compressed air.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations.
• Identify and report faults, carrying out repairs where possible.
• Work alongside skilled engineers and contractors on larger maintenance projects.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and report issues to the maintenance team leader.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or fitter role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures in a factory setting.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
