Summary
The Major Projects Quantity Surveyor is responsible for overseeing all cost-related aspects of major construction projects, ensuring efficient budget management, cost control, and adherence to financial regulations. This role involves preparing detailed cost estimates, conducting risk assessments, and managing contracts to support the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure and commercial developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Management & Estimation: Prepare and manage project cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts. Perform detailed cost analysis to identify potential cost-saving measures.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
- Risk Assessment: Analyse project risks related to costs and propose strategies for mitigation.
- Valuations & Variations: Conduct regular valuations and monitor variations to contracts, ensuring accurate reporting and payment applications.
- Financial Reporting: Provide detailed and transparent financial reporting to stakeholders, highlighting project progress and financial health.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with relevant legal and regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- GCSE’s Grade 9-4 or equivalent.
- Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, RICS or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in quantity surveying within major infrastructure or commercial projects.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in relevant project management and financial software tools.
- In-depth understanding of contract law and construction methodologies.
