GSL Education are seeking Graduate Teaching Assistants SEN to support secondary schools in Hexham, Northumberland.

Job Summary: The Graduate Teaching Assistant supports the learning and development of students with special educational needs under the guidance of the SEN Coordinator and classroom teachers. This role involves providing tailored support to students, assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans, and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
• Assist the class teacher in creating and implementing individualized learning plans.
• Support students with their emotional and social development.
• Work collaboratively with the SEN team, parents, and external agencies to provide maximum support.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

• A recent graduate with a degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• A genuine passion for working with children with SEN.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.

Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful candidates must satisfy all background checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
