Commissioning Placement and Alternative Provision Officer
6 month interim contract to start in May 2024
South East
£350 per day
Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Hybrid working – 2 days on site out of 5

Reporting into the Head for Delivering Better Value Commissioning, you will revise and reevaluate current placements within Independent and Alternative Provision schools. You will ensure that children’s best interests are at heart of the service. Through strategic working you will affect large areas of addressable spend in the Council's service. You will support line managers in implementing changes and increasing efficiency within Children's and Family Services. You would have worked within a local authority setting.

 
Your Role as a Commissioning Placement and Alternative Provision Officer:

  • Work in cohesion with colleagues from Social and healthcare team, manage shared budget responsibilities to support placements when needed
  • You will review and update QA practices and tracking of contracts for Alternative Provision and Non-Maintained Special School placements
  • Make sure there are strong systems in place to encourage collaboration with a variety of provider organisations.
  • Establish cost-saving opportunities and commissioning efficiencies working closely with relevant parties.

 
Your previous experience as a Commissioning Placement and Alternative Provision Officer:

  • Background in providing guidance to team members and influencing commissioning decisions
  • Delivering intricate information to elected officials and top management in a high-quality report
  • Track record of success in increasing efficiency through category management
  • Over 3 years experience of commissioning and keeping within budget
  • Understanding of alternative provision and special school placements within Local Authority
