Site Manager - Nuclear Industry

Staffordshire & Reading

Contract Opportunity - 12 months +

£50 p/h (Inside IR35) + expenses

I represent a client that serves prominent entities within the nuclear industry, operating in highly regulated and demanding environments. Thanks to the inherent nature of their operations, they have experienced significant growth and are currently seeking a project planner to join their team and contribute to the efficient streamlining of projects.

The role of Site Manager will include:

  • Oversee the installation and customer approval of Control System projects in the Nuclear Business, ensuring compliance with licensed site safety standards.
  • Lead and motivate a project team of 1 to 5+ software and hardware engineers during site installation and commissioning.
  • Manage sub-contractors for cable installations and minor electrical/mechanical tasks.
  • Conduct regular progress meetings with clients and produce related minutes.
  • Coordinate with the Health and Safety Manager on site welfare issues.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to ensure adequate site resources for on-time, on-budget, and quality delivery.
  • Assist with electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Interpret customer requirements, conduct site surveys, and create electrical drawings/specifications.
  • Perform risk assessments, produce method statements, and contribute to project safety, health, and environmental plans.

The requirements for this role are:

  • Completed Client Contractors National Safety Group Safety Passport Supervisor training.
  • Completed health and safety awareness training from a recognized provider (e.g., IOSH, CITB, RoSPA, BSC) in areas such as manual handling, lifting operations (banksman/slinger), working at height, CDM, and confined spaces.
  • First Aid at Work Certificate.
  • Completed CDM training relevant to site responsibilities.
  • Proven experience delivering nuclear solutions on-site, consistently meeting specifications, deadlines, and budgets in a commercial setting.
  • Strong and practical safety ethos.
  • Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.
  • Full UK driving licence.
