We are currently looking to recruit for a Construction Manager to work for our client on a 6 month contract. This will be to work on HS2 diversion schemes.

Role Objective:

  • Responsible for managing the site projects end to end.  Coordinating Contractors and  teams to ensure that the project and assets are delivered to timescales, quality and expectations
  • Act as the principle day to day point of contact for the customer from application through to job completion and ensure that systems are successfully updated with all required data
  • This role is to ensure construction assurance, HSE compliance for all Hs2 major projects being delivered by  through the supply chain
  • Key focal point for all sites across HS2 ensuring the sites are being managed and delivered in accordance to  minimum requirements 

Key Accountabilities

  • Leading the construction teams onsite and managing the HS2 construction assurance team and expectations
  • Assess review all high risk activity methodologies, risk control measures and hazard identification
  • Leading all H&S investigation with the STW assurance team
  • Provide a construction management service to all stakeholders ensuring proactive communication, a coordinated approach to all activities and ongoing site support and contact
  • Challenge and coach on site to ensure work done by Developers, contractors and STW DLO meet all standards and requirements
  • Liaise and challenge stakeholders e.g. Distribution, Highways Agencies, CCW to ensure STW comply with agreed Water UK SLA’s
  • Hold effective pre-work meetings to establish all the requirements of mains laying and service connections.  Gathering block quoting requirements & TMA impacts
  • Physically assess and technically problem solve difficult connections, taking into consideration both customers, H&S, regulation and STW needs
  • Assess with Councils, Connection Gang Supervisors and key people impacted by the potential work to understand traffic sensitivity, TMA design requirements & private land entry
  • Take clear site photos and update systems with enough information to allow Connection Operatives to easily understand the site, the challenges and contacts and Scheduling to plan effectively
  • Provide gold standard permit sketches
  • Able to walk the Developer through the design build-up / phases, explain timescales and TMA impacts
  • Carry out site assessments to ensure activities are being completed to a quality standard, identifying remedials and highlighting for rectification.  Checking physical workmanship and challenging and coaching anything not to quality standard
  • Identify remedial work and raise with Developer or Contractor to be rectified
  • Inspect Hydrants to check standards and work with the Fire Service to get hydrants adopted
  • Provide point of contact throughout the job - providing updates, resolving issues, taking site queries and providing site support either F2F or by phone
  • Organise and self-schedule service connection inspections with the Developer, ensuring proactive contact, feedback, documentation and next steps
  • Positively educate and coach on site to ensure physical workmanship and materials carried out by Developers and contractors meet all STW standards and requirements
  • Ensure adherence to Guaranteed Standards of Service obligations
  • Complete inspection activity in line with STW water fittings regulations
  • Liaise with Developer and Scheduling Teams to organise a convenient connection date
  • Measure compliance with SLA and take appropriate action to remedyAccountable for ensuring license C requirements are met
  • Obtain information on asset ahead of adoption (as built, O&M manuals, land transfer etc)
  • Ensure that all issues are resolved satisfactorily between the Customer and STW
  • Identify and promote areas for improvement or where efficiencies can be made
  • Responsible for capturing timely and accurate DMEX information in the relevant systems
  • Ensure that the IT systems used are kept updated with complete and accurate information to allow successful account set up and bill
  • Ensuring weekly diary reports re provided to the programme leads across the sites

  • Previous experience of working in field delivery and managing projects
  • Network/hydraulic knowledge
  • Waste and water installation knowledge
  • Basic engineering/connection knowledge
  • Good communication skills both written and ora
  • The ability to influence and communicate needs of team/STW to ensure works are delivered    within timescales and to the correct specification
  • The ability to communicate at all levels i.e. site level and at site management level
  • A high degree of professionalism and competence
  • Good problem solving skills
  • The ability to deal with complex issues and translate into clear and concise instructions
  • The ability to act decisively and positively when faced with demanding situations
