Senior Design Engineer

Rate: up to £70p/hr UMB- inside IR35
Location: Devonport, Plymouth – hybrid (1-2 days at the office/ 3 days WFH)
Duration: 6 months initially
Requirements: eligible for SC Clearance
Key responsibilities:
- Management and development of a small team of Design Engineers
- Development and delivery of designs in accordance with the design process (Start-up, Concept, Scheme, Detailed and Implementation phases)
- Managing the production, checking and approval of technical documentation and drawings
- Leading engineering analyses including calculations, component structural analysis and system fluid flow simulation/analysis
- Ensuring compliance with nuclear site licence conditions, statutory legislation and design codes/standards
- Providing through-life technical support for nuclear process assets
- Estimating, prioritising and producing work schedules/project programmes
Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences
Required:
- Understanding of mechanical engineering principles for the design, operation and maintenance of pressure/pipework systems
- Knowledge of the design lifecycle
- Knowledge of the general regulations, legislation and standards that are applicable to nuclear process and pressure system design
- Knowledge of project specification, planning and budgeting
And, technical experience with one or more of the following:
- Pressure systems
- Computer aided design
- Component engineering simulation
- System fluid flow analysis
- Nuclear plant design
