SEND Teaching Assistant needed in Coleshill Immediately

A SEND school in Coleshill are seeking a strong and confident SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This calm and therapeutic SEND School is in Coleshill and caters for students aged 4-19, who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. They pride themselves in creating a welcoming, motivating, and nurturing atmosphere where every pupil is encouraged and inspired to achieve their potential and develop a love of learning.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a small team assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons to students, as well as providing support outside of the classrooms, while students are in school. This may include working with parents, social workers, and other professionals regarding the students and their needs. Your roles will include, 1:1 work, work in small groups, monitoring the school during lunches and breaks etc.
There will be an element of personal care involved including toileting and feeding.
The preferred candidate will have:
- Experience in working with special needs (MLD, SLD, Autism)
- Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children and young people
- QTS is essential (does not have to be in Maths but experience teaching Maths is essential also).
- Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum
- Experience of using communication aids such as British Sign Language, Makaton or PECS is advantageous but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS registered or willing to acquire a new certificate.
- Can effectively manage behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
- Will be kind, caring and patient when dealing with children who require specialist support.
