Engage Education, the UK's foremost education recruitment agency serving East London for over 16 years, is seeking a dedicated and organised Cover Manager to join our dynamic team. As a Cover Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our partner schools by efficiently managing cover arrangements for absent staff members. This position requires adeptness in utilising school information systems, coordinating with external agencies for cover bookings, and a thorough understanding of safer recruitment practices in education.

Responsibilities:

  • Cover Management: Oversee the effective management of staff cover arrangements for absences, including teachers and support staff, to ensure continuity of teaching and learning.

  • Morning Operations: Handle cover requirements, particularly during high-pressure mornings, ensuring all classes are covered promptly and appropriately.

  • School Information Systems: Utilise school information systems proficiently to track staff absences, manage cover requests, and ensure accurate record-keeping.

  • Agency Coordination: Liaise with external recruitment agencies to book suitable cover staff when needed, maintaining effective communication and ensuring compliance with school policies.

  • Safer Recruitment: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safer recruitment practices in education, adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with school administrators, teaching staff, and external agencies to coordinate cover arrangements and address any issues or concerns promptly.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of cover arrangements, absences, and related communications, and generate reports as required by school management or regulatory authorities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the education sector is highly desirable.

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, school staff, and external agencies.

  • Proficiency in using school information systems and other relevant software applications.

  • Sound knowledge of safer recruitment practices in education, including relevant legislation and guidelines.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Commitment to upholding high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity in all aspects of work.
