About the Role:
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate ASD Teaching Assistant to join our team in Newcastle. This role involves providing support to primary school students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), helping them to access the curriculum and develop key skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to students with ASD, assisting them with academic tasks and social interactions.
  • Implement strategies to support students' communication and sensory needs.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to create and implement individualized support plans.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to the teaching team.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with children with ASD.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students with additional needs.
  • Be committed to promoting the inclusion and well-being of all students.
