Cedar is recruiting a Management Accountant to join one of the top higher education institutions in the South East on an interim basis. The post holder will be accountable for all areas of management accounting, including cost and cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.

Daily Rate: £200 - £250 per day

Contract Length: 6 months

Hybrid: 2-3 days in office per week

Location: London

Responsibilities

  • Deliver management accounting services and ensure the accuracy of entries.
  • Perform reviews and reconciliations and maintain the accuracy of accounts.
  • Create monthly management accounts and dashboards and enable monitoring and support management insight with supporting commentary.
  • Work alongside Treasury and Investment to manage cashflow and maintain accuracy of the current and projected balances.
  • Conduct variance analysis on month end reporting and collaborate with finance staff to identify reasons for unexpected differences.
  • Ensure the accuracy of budget and forecast template returns and support administrators with updates.
  • Drive continuous improvements to processes, workflows, management information, financial opportunities reporting and risks and deliver customer service.
  • Train and guide on management accounting issues including the Chart of Accounts, financial regulations, and budget control.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations and external audit requirements through performing general accounting.

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA) with professional experience in a finance role.
  • Previous experience working for a Higher Education Institution is advantageous.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the funding environment for research and teaching is beneficial.
  • Extensive experience in all areas of management accounting.
  • Successful experience of service delivery.
  • Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel knowledge.
  • Experience using Oracle Financials or a similar accounting package is advantageous.
  • Team management experience is desirable.
