About this Position:

We currently have a great opportunity for an Electrical Engineer on a contract basis with a global engineering solutions company who have a proven track record serving the product lifecycle needs of high technology companies. This role is based in Devonport.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems for marine vessels.
  • Perform detailed electrical analyses and troubleshooting to ensure systems conform to national and international standards and operational requirements.
  • Engage in the full lifecycle development of electrical projects, from conceptual design through to implementation and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with marine architects and other engineers to integrate electrical systems into overall vessel designs.
  • Conduct field tests and inspections to ensure the safety and efficiency of electrical installations.
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for electrical systems and equipment.


Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on marine or naval applications.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering, specifically in a marine environment.
  • Proficient with electrical CAD software and tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations and electrical standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in diverse team settings.
