As a Graduate SEND Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in the educational journey of children who are unable to access mainstream schooling due to physical and mental illnesses. Your responsibilities will include providing tailored support, fostering a nurturing environment, and facilitating learning opportunities that empower each child to thrive.

Key responsibilities.

Building Positive Relationships: Establishing trusting and positive relationships with students is essential. Teaching assistants should create a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel safe to express themselves and seek help when needed.

Assisting with Classroom Activities: Teaching assistants support the delivery of lessons by assisting students during class activities, providing one-on-one instruction, and adapting teaching materials to meet individual needs.

Providing Emotional Support: Students with SEN needs may require additional emotional support. Teaching assistants should be empathetic listeners and provide encouragement and reassurance to help students cope with challenges and build resilience.

Supporting Inclusion: Teaching assistants help promote inclusion by facilitating the participation of students with needs in various classroom and school activities. They may collaborate with teachers to modify activities and assignments to ensure accessibility for all students.

Requirements:

Relevant Degree: Ideally in psychology, education, or healthcare, equipping you with foundational knowledge crucial for this role.

Experience: Previous experience working with children is highly preferred.

Understanding of SEND: Familiarity with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities will be advantageous.

Key Skills: Resilience and empathy are paramount in effectively supporting the diverse needs of our students.

Driving License: While beneficial, it's not mandatory for this role.
