Job Requirements of this Teaching Assistant job in Walsall

A dedicated Special Educational Needs provision in Walsall, committed to supporting young people aged 11 – 18 with Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. The school mission is to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.

  • Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
  • Strong understanding of educational strategies and techniques tailored to meet the individual needs of students with diverse learning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of young people with special needs.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and manage challenging behaviors with sensitivity and professionalism.

Qualifications or Certificates:

  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred.
  • Additional training or certifications in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) would be advantageous.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within a Special Educational Needs setting is highly desirable.
  • Experience implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to support student progress and well-being.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and other resources to enhance learning outcomes for students with diverse needs.

Brief Overview of the Role:

  • Primarily focused on supporting young people aged 11 – 18 with Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
