Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire, are actively seeking an experienced Powertrain Electrification Legal & Compliance Consultant to join their highly successful team with immediate effect on initially a 6 month minimum Contract basis (Inside IR35), albeit with likelihood of extension at the end of this term. On offer to the successful candidate is a competitive, albeit negotiable hourly rate, based on relevant experience.

As their Legal & Compliance Consultant, you will be liaising between the Electrification & Powertrain department and the Legal and Compliance (LnC) team, in order to receive and review the latest vehicle legal requirements and certifications which correspond to the global targeted markets. Your job will then be to interpret and cascade those requirements and certification processes to the HV component owners within the Electrification & Powertrain team advising them accordingly so as to be complaint. This company is currently developing BEV and PHEV vehicle platforms which are expanding from PHEV and BEV hypercars and sport cars to SUVs.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:
As a Legal & Compliance Consultant you will have to update and provide advice to the Electrification & Powertrain component owners on the following (but not limited) fields:
  • Type Approval Legislation advice and interpretation on all aspects of High Voltage components (EU battery regulations, US etc.)
  • Non-Type Approval Legislation advice (i.e. customs, battery shipment, warranty, aftersales, labelling) on all aspects of High Voltage components.
  • Homologation of the high-voltage battery components.
  • Homologation of Crash and Safety advice.
  • Off-board and on-board Charging Systems.
  • Electrified powertrain OBD requirements including USA future OBD on UDS etc.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Should ideally be educated with a Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • You will have multiple years of experience in Automotive Mechanical and Electrical Design, with a focus on legal compliance of HV components into vehicles.
  • You should certainly offer a strong fundamental knowledge of HV and LV certification.
  • You will need a familiarity with Automotive legislation covering the global market too.
  • Should have demonstrated experience in HV Battery homologation, together with demonstrated experience in diagnostics OBD/ OBD on UDS etc.
  • You will have experience on EMC/ ESD requirements.
  • Should have a knowledge of high voltage (> 400 volts) electrical power system design as well as a knowledge of Power Electronics, Battery Systems and e-Motors.
  • Should have a familiarity with high-voltage powertrain and architecture.
  • Should have Software (SW) development knowledge in an Automotive environment (AUTOSAR and Cyber Security).
It’s great if you also have the following:
  • A knowledge of design for manufacturing principles to support development of high volume, high quality.
  • Knowledge of system safety principles and failure modes and effects analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of thermal management: air and liquid cooling.
  • Familiarity with safety analysis, D/PFMEA and functional safety.
  • Familiarity with test and validation plans.
