Role Overview:
As part of the Safety, Security, and Assurance Directorate, youll join the Independent Nuclear Assurance (INA) function, serving as the internal regulator for a groundbreaking project. The Independent Technical Assessment (ITA) team within INA undertakes a pivotal role, providing independent review, assessment, and challenge to ensure that safety standards are met and maintained throughout the projects lifecycle. Specifically, we are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineering specialist to enhance our teams capabilities.

Responsibilities:

Ensure the effectiveness of the design assurance model and identify areas for improvement.
Offer impartial advice and conduct thorough reviews of safety case submissions and technical deliverables.
Serve as an independent technical assessment barrier for high-risk design or safety case elements.
Represent the ITA viewpoint to key stakeholders, including UK Nuclear Regulators.
Present independent perspectives on project processes and governance to internal and external committees.
Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Independent Technical Assessment Manager, youll be responsible for:

Providing oversight and technical assessment of project activities, prioritizing nuclear safety.
Managing relationships internally and externally, including with regulators.
Balancing business demands with regulatory requirements and internal processes.
Requirements:

Experience in nuclear or other high-hazard industries.
Proficiency in managing highly complex technical projects, particularly in Civil/Structural Engineering.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders and regulators.
Detailed knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulatory expectations.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:

Experience in independent oversight or audit roles, such as Independent Nuclear Safety Assessment.
Familiarity with modern safety case methodologies and regulatory standards.
