Principal CAD Engineer - Closure & Mechanisms - Coventry (Hybrid) - Up to £40/hr - Inside IR35

Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping a collaborative automotive company recruit a Principal Engineer specialising in closures and mechanisms, and the role comes with a pay rate of £40 per hour.

As a Principal Engineer, you will be working in both pre and post-vehicle programme KO phases and will take responsibility for technical delivery to cost, quality, and time for tasks and activities.

During your first few weeks in this Principal Engineer role, you can expect to begin work on some of the following:

• Support the APC, Lead Engineer, Body & Closures in all day-to-day activities
• Engineering BoM development
• Cost and weight pack development and weight BoM management
• DFMEA & DVP creation & maintenance
• Interface with cross functional teams (Package, Analysis, Manufacturing, DVA etc) &,implement recommendations where appropriate to create a right first time release
• Leading the development of the 3D and 2D models for closure & mechanism engineering
• Participate in cross functional integration reviews for components & systems, considering technical application, form, function & harmonisation of the execution
• Develop timing plans and develop scope-of-work documents with key deliverables identified

To apply for this Principal Engineer - CAD Closure & Mechanisms position, you will need to be Degree qualified or similar qualification as a minimum. Additional qualifications include:

• Ability to create and manipulate geometry for primary communication of concepts and schemes
• Catia v5/v6 operative skills and demonstrate high technical competence
• Experience in using TCUA (Team Centre) and PLM is preferable
• Engineering experience in the delivery of the designated module systems in the automotive sector or similar industries
• Evidence of engineering skills, including the ability to manage and resolve engineering issues
• Understands roles & needs of different client groups. Evidence of working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results
