The School and Role

This new SEN School in Leeds caters to children 4-19, the school is looking to appoint a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a small KS3-KS4 classroom on a Full-Time basis. Working in this school as part of an established team, the desired SEN Teaching Assistant will be working with pupils with SEN and working alongside the other members of staff to promote educational values whilst working on their individual needs. This Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant role is long term and potentially permanent. 

Requirements

The desired SEN Teaching Assistant will have;

  • Attend to the pupils’ personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.
  • Support the pupils Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. To supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  •  Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of, and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  •  Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  •  Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.
  • Support pupils in accessing learning activities as directed by the teacher.
  • To understand and support the varying needs of the pupils.
  • To support the physical, sensory, communication and learning needs of the pupils
