SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT – Immediate Start   Temporary (full time)

Would you like to advance your career working in an educational setting?   You may be a graduate who is looking to further a career in teaching? Do you have a passion for working with children with special needs?

  • A very inclusive SEN school in Enfield is looking for a confident staff member to join their team to support a small class group.  It is essential that you can demonstrate that you have some experience of previous work with children with special educational needs. You will be working in a small class alongside the class teacher to support a children with autism and ADHD in  EYFS, KS1 and KS2.   

If you’re available to start from April 15th until the end of academic year in the first instance, please read on.   This could be the start of a long term relationship with the school.

The minimum requirements for the successful candidate:

  • Do you have a teaching assistant qualification?
  • Can you demonstrate previous work with children/ young people, e.g. youth work / mentoring / tutoring / volunteering will all be considered.?  
  • Do you have a positive, friendly, confident, outgoing personality and keep calm under pressure?
  • Do you have a real interest and enthusiasm for supporting children with SEN?
  • A degree isn’t essential but a willingness to get stuck in and support children with SEN is needed
  • Are you available 5 days per week (Monday-Friday 8.30 am-3.30 pm)?
  • You must have had at least 6 months evidence of working in a UK school environment.

Duties include but aren’t limited to:

  • Classroom support with a child or small group
  • Speech and Language support
  • Assisting the class teacher during delivery of the lesson
  • Communicating with parents
  • Supervising children during activities including some lunch and break duties
  • Helping prepare lessons in advance
  • Managing challenging behaviour
  • Acting as a positive role model
