Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a number of Senior Mechanical Engineers to be based in either Warrington, Cumbria, or Preston with remote working on a long-term contract basis.

Your Day-to-Day:

Responsible for the development of design solutions using AutoCAD / Inventor and to direct engineers/designers in the production of complex design solutions.
Production of simple calculations and to direct engineers/designers in the production of complex calculations.
Checking of others work ensuring that design deliverables are produced to a high standard and compliant with all relevant internal and client procedures. Production of technical documents such as Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, Method Statements etc.
Take ownership of design deliverables throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operations and decommissioning phases of a project and ensure that the Design Intent is maintained.
Produce and check CDM Risk Registers
Produce and check documentation required for Technical Files of new products / plant and equipment.
Presentation of technical solutions to clients and others in both formal and informal settings, allowing for a broad range of technical knowledge in any audience
Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs
Support in the development of project safety case including HAZID and HAZOP attendance, production of basis of safety documents (Hazard Management Strategy) and engineering substantiation (design/engineering justification).
Develop estimates, deliverables required and programme logic at bid/tender stage. Whilst also providing input in to cost to complete.
Manage a team of engineers/designers to deliver the engineering scope as required by the project.
Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company's capabilities,
Develop and manage/maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations
Producing and assessing concessions and technical queries.
Preparing and reviewing quality plans for single discipline work packages.

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering preferred
Chartered Member of the IMechE (preferred)
Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied
Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques applicable to mechanical design.
Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment
Detail design knowledge of mechanical mechanisms or bespoke equipment for Nuclear use.
Knowledge of relevant drawing standards BS8888, BS5070 and BS EN 61082 - Relevant experience in the Nuclear Industry Why We're Different:
