About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Employee Health and Wellbeing Manager – Lead Nurse position. You will provide and maintain comprehensive Occupational Health and Well-being Services to the client with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of our people and promoting attendance at work. 

The role involves managing the development of a pro-active nurse led service to meet occupational health and well-being demands and needs of our client.  This includes strategic planning for the development of the service linked to national agendas and the client’s people strategy, financial management of the Employee Health and Wellbeing service, clinical governance, operational management of staff, policy development and innovation. 

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • To have overall leadership responsibility for the implementation of the strategic direction and safe, effective delivery of appropriate Occupational Health Services to the client and external contracts. 
  • To champion best practice in occupational health provision to promote the health and wellbeing of all employees and reduce the risk of occupational ill health through individual intervention and organisation-wide strategies/programmes. 
  • To be a clinical expert with specialist knowledge and, with support from the Occupational Health Physician; provide advice and guidance to Occupational Health staff, client management and employees on complex occupational health and safety issues; interpret relevant legislation and official guidance, and develop, implement and monitor efficacy of the client policies that relate to occupational health, safety and wellbeing. 
  • To be responsible for ensuring an appropriate occupational health records management system, and appropriate clinical and corporate records storage and retention systems are in place in line with relevant legislation, NHS Standards, and the client’s policy. 
  • To ensure appropriate management of day-to-day operational service delivery. 
  • To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and quality of service delivery. 
  • To work with relevant parties to develop appropriate policies and good practice in line with legislation and official guidance to promote and maintain employee health, safety, and wellbeing.
  • To manage the departmental budget (expenditure and income), facilities and accommodation, IT systems and other assets. 
  • To lead on the bid process for new and existing occupational health contracts, develop new business and maintain excellent relationships with existing external clients. 
  • To identify and develop business cases when service or resource development needs are identified. 

Who we’re looking for:

  • Qualified OH Nurse Practitioner Registered with appropriate regulatory body.
  • Registered Specialist Practitioner Community OH Nurse (Part 3 NMC) or equivalent.
  • Masters degree or equivalent experience and training.
  • Additional management training or equivalent level of experience.
  • Experience of leading and delivering programmes of change within an Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service.
  • Line management experience of leading a team of nurses.
  • Experience of working with private contractors.
  • Experience with policies and procedures.
