Role and Responsibilities

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will…

- Ensure that effective Health & Safety support & guidance is provided to line management within designated areas of responsibility. Working with colleagues within the HSQE team to ensure that advice is accurate, timely and presented in such a way as to ensure acceptance and subsequent implementation. Continuously monitor Portfolio Health & Safety performance to identify & address issues of concern before they adversely impact works.

- Champion the Company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) at all times ensuring that Project staff & contractors adhere to its requirements.

- Promotion of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental issues and awareness within their designated areas of responsibility, including the preparation and delivery of Safety Communications (i.e. Tool Box Talks, Safety Alerts) and attendance at Safety Forums

- Undertaking Site Inspections and Audits including the preparation of written reports to a high standard. Subsequently assisting line management in the effective and timely close out of issues identified

- Assisting in the production and/or review of procedures and documentation i.e. Site Files, Construction Phase Plans, Method Statements/WPP, Emergency Plans as well as Risk, Manual Handling and COSHH assessments, including the review of subcontractor documents.

- Assist in the identification, development and implementation of specific Health and Safety related Initiatives, ensuring they meet business, client, and legal requirements.

- Representing the department and company at Client-facing meetings.

- Lead/assist in Accident & Incident Investigations ensuring timely reporting to management & clients, preparation of interim and final reports and the presentation of same as required.

- Undertake any specific health and safety-related tasks or projects allocated by the Head of HSQE.

- The candidate must be willing to work nights and/or weekends when required as the business is a 24-houroperation.

- Participate in the HSQE team ‘On-Call’ roster and D&A testing rota

Safety Requirements

You will…

- Comply with the company’s safety policies and all other company policies applicable to the effective discharge of your role.

- Be familiar with all safety requirements relevant to your post.

- Lead in the effective communication & implementation of safety-related initiatives that apply to the works under your control.

- Attend client and company safety meetings/briefings as required, ensuring full attendance from your team (s) where you have the responsibility to do so

- Comply with the fatigue management/Working Time Directive and D&A procedures.Data Processing

- Identify your portfolio/department GDPR Lead and receive a briefing on GDPR as it applies to your activities.

- Ensure the application of good GDPR practices, in line with the company’s GDPR policies, procedures & processes, at all times.

- Immediately report any suspected GDPR data breach to your portfolio/department GDPR Lead or Head of Human Resources (HR)

Qualifications and Certifications

You will…

- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent;

- CMIOSH/NEBOSH Diploma

- Qualified Auditor;

- Trained Accident/Incident Investigator;

- ICI, PTS (NR), BTA (LU).

- Have good interpersonal communication (verbal, written and listening) skills, that will support the delivery of your duties and be able to clearly explain tasks and inspire others with varying backgrounds

- Have high standards of attention to detail in all aspects of your work

- Show initiative and know when to escalate issues for Supervisor/ Management support.

- Be a team player with regard to sharing information, helping to resolve a problem, working towards common goals, properly dividing tasks between team members, etc.

- Have the ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
