In this specific contract position, you'll be working hand-in-hand with our dedicated automotive clientele. Due to the nature of the role, we will only be able to consider candidates with direct Automotive work experience. We are only able to consider candidates on an inside IR35 basis.

What You'll Do:

Working as a consultant, you will support our Customer’s existing engineering quality resource, you will be responsible for driving an increased throughput of automotive projects through to robust resolution.

We are actively seeking experienced Automotive Project Engineers with experience working with Powertrains, specifically:

  • Base Engines
  • Development
  • Launch
  • PVT
  • ICE
  • High Pressure EGR
  • IQM
  • Engine Sensors
  • Project Management experience

Each project will be progressed using defined problem solving methodology, predominantly 8D process, from problem definition through to engineering release.

Responsibilities:

Our Customer has existing quality improvement teams in each of the engineering specialisms (body, chassis, powertrain and electrical). The Automotive Project Engineer will take responsibility for the projects and either resolve using 8D problem solving methodologies or work with the supply base on supplier owned engineering to drive resolution.

The actual responsibilities may vary depending on the problem identification and the proposed resolution, so a wide and varied experience in engineering delivery is sought.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Good demonstratable problem solving skills and mindset.
  • Must be based in the Midlands in the UK.
  • Expected to be onsite with the customer up to 3 days a week.

It Would Be An Asset If You Also Have:

  • Six sigma, 8D, 5-whys, FMEA, DFMEA processes
  • CAD tools such as Catia V5 (for specific roles) plus vis-mockup/digibuck
  • Agile delivery process including Scrum approach and Jira toolset
  • Requirements capture/updates, DVP & component testing
  • Having a UK driving license and experience of driving OEM test vehicles would be advantageous.

Skills

  • Team player, working closely with our Customer’s engineer and supplier.
  • Ability to manage several project to agreed deadlines
