We have a new opportunity for a PRINCIPAL CIVIL / STRUCTURAL DESIGNER based at Westlakes Science Park in Cumbria.

This role will be on an Umbrella basis and Candidates should be eligible to apply for, and obtain Security Clearance if not already held (British Citizenship required for clearance)

ROLE PURPOSE:

Provide proven experience in the drafting and design of Civil / Structural Engineering.

Much of the work will be in the production of drawings in AutoCAD or REVIT including support to deliverables produced by Engineers and coordination of work between the other Engineering disciplines to produce a clash free design.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Produce civil / structural design drawings / documentation including: -

Steelwork general arrangement and detailed drawings
Concrete general arrangements and Reinforcement Detailing
External civils works (Underground Drainage, Underground Services, External Finishes, Formation Levels, External Slabs
3D and 2D layouts

Work as part of an integrated delivery team and with minimal supervision.

Draft and design systems based on concepts / sketches provided by an Engineer and update in line with comments received.

OTHER DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

Attendance at relevant project meetings and workshops.
Attendance and support during Single and Multi-Discipline Design Reviews.
Produce Minutes of Meetings.
Site Surveys and Production of Survey Notes.
Occasional visits to Sellafield site / Client offices.
Liaison with suppliers and stakeholders.
Progress reporting and input to design deliverables ensuring an auditable trail.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

Proven ability in delivering engineering solutions.
Understanding of the design process and experience in all stages of design (concept, preliminary through to detail design stage).
Evidence of having a sound working knowledge and experience of relevant standards.
Self-motivated and capable of arranging own work, able to work with minimal supervision to meet challenging client deadlines.
Knowledge of the Sellafield Ltd Management System (SLMS) is preferable.
Good working knowledge of Sellafield design procedures.
Knowledge of BIM processes and workflows. ISO Standards etc.

DESIGN TOOLS / SOFTWARE:

Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook) essential
AutoCAD is essential.
Autodesk Revit is preferable
Autodesk Navisworks is preferable

QUALIFICATIONS:

HNC minimum in a relevant discipline
Able to evidence significant continuous development
