Job Description:

Job Duties:

The SEND Teaching Assistant will support the learning and development of Primary aged students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Responsibilities include assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons, providing one-to-one support to students, implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Required Qualifications:

A relevant qualification in Education or Special Educational Needs is essential. An understanding of different learning needs and strategies to support SEND students is required.

Education:

A minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is required.

Experience:

Prior experience working with SEND students in an educational setting is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge of SEND best practices, excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional training in areas such as Makaton, Autism Awareness, or Behaviour Management is desirable.

Working Conditions:

The role involves working within a school environment, collaborating with teachers and other support staff. The SEND Teaching Assistant may need to adapt to different learning needs and provide individualised support to students.
