We are looking for a mechanical test engineer for a 6month fixed term contract for this Automotive research and development company based on the Mira technology park. You will be  responsible for the testing & reporting of all mechanical components for use in air breaking systems on commercial vehicles. including the utilization and delivery of all key design documentation/theory to develop robust and functional products within the scope of pre-defined specification and cost targets
 
Working on the Mira Technology Park in Nuneaton the role has the ability to work 2-3 days a week from home.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 6 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT.

The role as a mechanical test engineer.
Undertake all aspects of development and testing for his / her project / work to ensure
production introduction is successfully achieved in accordance with the relevant product design
specifications.
 
  • Plan and implement test programs leading towards product development and Engineering Sign
    Off.
  • Co-ordinate and liaise with Engineering the overseeing of all development, quality and customer
    return activities in terms of component / system testing and / or prototype manufacture.
  • Ability to conduct Benchmark testing of products for current / future innovations.
  • Analyse to a high degree of understanding test results to determine engineering solutions and, if
    necessary, utilising mathematic modelling.
  • Able to compile detailed engineering reports through compilation of test data utilising sound
    presentation skills to formulate good engineering solutions.
  • Control and maintenance of development records for traceability as document custodian.
  • Liaise with Test Release Engineer to assist in the generation of the relevant test specifications for
    new products.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the design and construction of component / system test rigs / equipment
    to fulfil legislative / customer requirements.
  • When required, act as technical liaison with other departments (e.g.
  • Service/Production/Quality/Sales departments) and outside suppliers
  • Project Manage internal project or test aspects of an external resource
 
Qualifications needed to be successful in this test engineers role
  • Degree in Engineering discipline, plus 2 – 3 years experience in engineering (preferably
    automotive, rail or aeronautical).
  • Understanding and the ability to interpret global specifications.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and component inspection methods.
  • Specific experience of preventative maintenance and calibration methods.
  • Knowledge of automotive engineering (commercial vehicles) and Validation / Verification
    Methodologies.
  • Measurement techniques with the ability to extrapolate data for reports.
  • Knowledge / use of QS9001 / APQP procedures.
  • Operation / maintenance and construction of current / bespoke test platforms including test rigs
    and pneumatic architecture

  • Working Monday - Friday 37.5 hour week - core office hours of 9.30am-3.30pm Monday - Thursday 9.30am - 12pm on Friday but flexible working to include those
