Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEN) and Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs? As an SEN/ SEMH Learning Support Assistant at this outstanding SEN secondary school, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse needs and mental health needs. You will work alongside experienced educators and professionals in a welcoming and inclusive environment, helping students overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential.

For this SEN/SEMH Learning Support Assistant role, you will:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Assist teachers in creating and delivering tailored learning plans.
  • Foster a safe and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Promote social and emotional development among students.
  • Encourage independence and self-confidence in students.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to develop and implement individual education plans.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour.
  • Offer emotional support and guidance to students as needed.

For this role, you will need:

  • Experience working, caring for, or volunteering with individuals who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and/or Social Emotional Mental Health needs is essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting and advocating for young people with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
