We’re recruiting for an Industrial Automation Engineer to work on an initial 18 month contract in Leixlip, Ireland.

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mid to Senior Industrial Automation Engineer to join a well-respected systems integrator on a long-term contract basis. The successful candidate will have 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in the field of industrial automation, with expertise in PLC, SCADA, DCS, and other automation technologies.

As an Industrial Automation Engineer, you will work with senior engineers to design, develop, and maintain industrial automation systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. The initial period will involve detailed system specific training, however, the client will expect a high degree of autonomy once this training period is over, and expect the candidate to be able to work independently. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, and implement industrial automation systems and solutions.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC/SCADA systems, and other automation devices as required.
  • Perform system integration, testing, and validation of automation systems to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automation systems at client sites.
  • Conduct regular inspections and assessments of existing automation systems, identifying areas for improvement and proposing solutions.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients and internal teams.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in industrial automation technologies and recommend their implementation where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of automation systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of automation systems, including specifications, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven 3 to 8 years of experience working in the field of industrial automation, specifically with Siemens PLCs, Allen-Bradley PLCs, and other automation technologies.
  • Strong programming skills and experience with PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems and programming (e.g., GE Cimplicity/iFix, Siemens WinCC, Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk).
  • Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing complex automation system issues.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the design and implementation of motion control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with industrial robotics and their integration into automation systems.
  • Certification in Siemens or Allen-Bradley automation technologies.
