About the Role in Slough:

As a SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our SEN teachers and support staff to deliver high-quality educational support to students with a range of special educational needs. Your role will be pivotal in providing personalised assistance, facilitating learning activities, and promoting the social and emotional development of students.

Key Responsibilities for a SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant :

Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, assisting them with academic tasks, social interactions, and personal care as needed.

Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions under the guidance of the SEN teacher.

Implement Educational Healthcare and Behaviour plans management strategies to support students' progress and achievement.

Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.

Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure coordinated support for students with SEN.

Qualifications and Skills for a SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Hold a relevant qualification such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of students with SEN.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
