Locum Social Worker

Childrens Services

CWD - Woking

In Surrey's Children, Families and Lifelong Learning services, we feel proud to have careers with a purpose, in many different roles, working closely with partners, that support real people and real lives.

Job Description

One of the primary responsibilities of a CWD Social Worker is to conduct comprehensive assessments of children with disabilities to identify their strengths, challenges, and support needs. These assessments may involve gathering information from the child, their family, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and other relevant sources.

Based on their assessments, CWD Social Workers develop and implement personalized care plans tailored to meet the specific needs of each child. These plans may include accessing specialist services such as occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, or educational support. Additionally, CWD Social Workers work closely with families to provide practical guidance, emotional support, and assistance in navigating available resources and entitlements.

CWD Social Workers also play a crucial role in advocating for the rights of children with disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to education, healthcare, and social opportunities. They may liaise with schools, healthcare professionals, local authorities, and advocacy groups to promote inclusive practices and address any barriers to participation faced by children with disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in social work.
  • Registration with Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
  • Previous experience working with children and families in a social work setting, preferably with children with physical disabilities.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks and develop effective intervention plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • A commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.

Benefits:

  • Competitive rates commensurate with experience.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuing education.
  • Supportive work environment with opportunities for collaboration and growth.
  • Meaningful work that makes a positive impact on the lives of children and families in need.
