Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners? Accelerate Teaching, in collaboration with a vibrant Secondary School in Wakefield, is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team.

Role Overview: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one support to students with SEND, both in the classroom and during extracurricular activities.
  • Assisting the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and adapting lesson materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborating with other members of the school community, including parents, carers, and external agencies, to ensure the holistic development of students with SEND.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEND is essential.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
