1:1 Support Worker for Student with Complex Needs in SEN School:

Position: 1:1 Support Worker

Location: Bishop's Stortford 

Contract Type: Full-time

As a 1:1 Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in helping a specific student with complex needs achieve their goals and foster their overall development.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the student, their parents/guardians, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement personalized learning plans to address the student's individual needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support to the student throughout the school day, both inside the classroom and during extracurricular activities.
  • Assist the student in their academic pursuits, social interactions, and emotional regulation, fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to adapt learning materials and techniques to suit the student's learning style and abilities.
  • Monitor the student's progress and record observations to track their development and communicate updates to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Handle any challenges that may arise, such as behavioral difficulties or medical concerns, in a calm and professional manner.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the school, encouraging the student's participation in group activities and promoting their social integration.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably working with students with complex needs or special educational needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different learning styles, behavioral management strategies, and communication techniques.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals with special needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to adapt and think creatively to address the unique challenges presented by the student's complex needs.
