TeacherActive is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in an “outstanding” special school in Ackworth. This school caters to young people aged 11-19 years with severe, complex, or profound and multiple learning difficulties. The school focuses on developing its student’s communication, social interaction, life skills, and community access.

As a Learning Mentor, your responsibilities will include planning lessons and delivering them on a 1:1 basis, supporting and developing SEN students, and catering your teaching to each student’s needs. This role will begin after the half-term and roll over into the next school year, there is a chance that this will lead to a permanent position for the right Learning Mentor. This is a great chance to gain an abundance of experience to add to your profile and keep every day exciting. The ideal Teaching Assistant should have the following:

• Level 2 or 3 qualified and/or experienced with Children who have Special Educational Needs
• A calm, patient, and caring persona
• Good behaviour management
• A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
• Experience in working with and supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis
