SEN Support TA and Trainee TA - North West London

We are looking for a passionate individual who wants to begin working and training as a Children's SEND Teaching Assistant who will support our school in Uxbridge by helping children and young people with a variety of needs.

Some of our students are non-verbal and with such a wide range of learning difficulties. Students are supported by a multidisciplinary team including Physiotherapists, Art Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists. Some students may also have physical disabilities and are wheelchair users. Being able to use Makaton (sign language) or PECs is ideal. Personal Care (feeding and toileting) and hydrotherapy are required as this is a part of the job.

Autism Support Worker's Main Responsibilities:
• Supporting children with Autism/ASC, complex needs, and Severe to Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties.
• Assisting the class teacher with planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities, as well as monitoring and assessing children’s achievement and progress
• Actively involved in a wide range of activities, promoting the physical, cognitive, cultural, social, and emotional well-being of the pupils
• Actively interacting with children through play-based and sensory-related activities

About you:

  • Be passionate about supporting the development of children and young adults

  • Be personable, kind and empathetic

  • Be versatile, willing to learn and develop your skills

  • Be confident, and have a strong sense of behaviour management

  • Have some experience with children, or be passionate about doing so

  • Driver - preferable but not essential

The Training Programme

Our Early Career Teaching Assistant Programme consists of on the job training in a school alongside a bespoke CPD programme, developed by ex-senior leaders and our CPD Partners, Creative Education. You’ll learn:

  • How to be a great Teaching Assistant

  • Supporting Autism, Strategies to de-escalate behaviour, Makaton, all necessary SEND skills

  • How to maximise your impact on learning

  • Special Needs Awareness

  • Enhanced Safeguarding

As part of your enrollment on the Early Years Teaching Assistant Programme, you’ll have free access to over 300 courses to help you develop your skills in specialised areas.
