Health and Safety advisor required for a long-term engineering construction contract in Sunderland. Paying a day rate of circa £320.00 per day.

The HSE Advisor / Supervisor on this project will be covering all aspects of Health, Safety and Temporary Works on large factory fit out. Works being carried out on site will involve the Mechanical and Electrical Installation of Machinery and other internal structural works within the factory.

You will be working closely with the Principal Contractors, Project Management team and Safety Division to ensure all compliances are met on site. Overseeing a large workforce and various pieces of plant, cranes and other equipment being utilised on site, for day-to-day operations on the site. Other responsibilities will include -

  • Running weekly toolbox talks
  • Providing accurate safety guidance and advice to both site operatives and site management
  • Troubleshooting the contractor’s previous Safe Working Practises violations.
  • Daily Site Audits.
  • Weekly reports.
  • Assessment and compliance checks of method statements and risk assessments.

Here are some of the types of Professional Courses / Qualifications we would like to see –

  • Corporate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (or working towards)
  • NVQ in Senior Construction Management
  • CSCS of some type  
  • Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Cert

This project is due to run for 10 to 12 months. The Health and Safety advisor will be required on site daily including Saturdays as the project gets started, 6 day working weeks will be required.
