As a Child and Family Support Worker, you will be required to work alongside and collaboratively with your team manager/senior practitioner to ensure children, young people and their families are effectively safeguarded and supported.

• To work with children and young people are in care, in need and at risk of harm as part of a multiagency team to provide an integrated whole family approach to positively make a change in family behaviours.

• To provide practical and emotional support to parents as through parents change for children can be achieved and sustained. However maintain children at the centre of our practice and ensuring the voice of the child is listened to and understood.

• To be responsible for various levels of family support with individual families working in their home or other community settings as appropriate

• To case hold a small number of children in need alongside an allocated social worker to progress their plans and deliver intervention and support as specified.

• To support the delivery of safe and effective supervised family time offering support and guidance to families within a safe environment or in the community.

• To provide signposting information and direct advice and guidance to families on child development and parenting using evidence based practice.

• Work flexibly to meet the needs of children and families within the borough through evidence based/evidenced informed interventions

• To contribute to the assessment and support of parents, children and their families.

• To carry out a range of tasks as identified and allocated by the Team Manager or Senior Practitioner.

• Robust management of the plan of work with the family, reviewing this with social workers and families in a timely manner to prevent drift and escalation of concerns.

• The delivery of direct work with parents and children through their plans of support.

• To communicate effectively with children, families, colleagues and other agencies in order to share information and skills.

• To act as a positive role model for parents/carers in a range of contexts including groups, drop in sessions, 1-1 work
