About the Role

The government's ambitious proposal for a smoke-free 2030 aims to significantly reduce smoking rates by providing additional funding to local authorities. In line with this initiative, the post holder's role involves collaborating with residents, service providers, and the public health team to design, implement, and oversee stop smoking services in Haringey. Their primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and monitoring these services to ensure they effectively target communities with the greatest need for support in quitting smoking.
By engaging with stakeholders and the local community, the post holder works to tailor interventions that address the specific needs of Haringey's smoking population. This includes identifying and implementing evidence-based strategies to reduce smoking prevalence and mitigate health disparities related to tobacco use. Additionally, they play a crucial role in supporting tobacco control initiatives aimed at promoting smoking cessation and improving public health outcomes.
Through their collaborative efforts, the post holder contributes to the broader goal of achieving a smoke-free society by 2030, thereby enhancing the health and well-being of individuals and communities in Haringey.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role should possess extensive experience in procurement and contract management related to service commissioning and delivery arrangements with providers. They should have a proven track record of effectively managing partnerships and inter-agency collaborations in smoking cessation programs across various service settings, including community, primary care, and secondary care. Additionally, experience in working with senior stakeholders to ensure the achievement of outcomes, as well as the ability to influence and negotiate with professional stakeholders to drive agreement and implement change, are essential qualities.
Furthermore, the candidate should demonstrate proficiency in data interpretation and analysis, coupled with strong organizational skills to manage competing demands efficiently. Experience in coordinating, chairing, and managing meetings is crucial, along with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of audiences. A degree-level education, preferably in public health or health promotion, is desirable, along with experience in project management, including the development of documentation, project plans, risks logs, and business cases, while adhering to tight deadlines.
Finally, the candidate should exhibit a proactive and enthusiastic approach to complex issues, maintaining a focus on outcomes and continuously monitoring benefits to residents. Strong numeracy and literacy skills, along with the ability to create documents and promotional materials for various audiences, are essential. Overall, the ideal candidate should be adept at navigating multifaceted challenges, communicating effectively, and driving positive change in smoking cessation initiatives to benefit the community.
