Responsibilities:

System Design and Integration:

  • Lead the design and integration efforts of hydrogen fuel cell propulsion systems into aerospace platforms, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Work closely with partners and suppliers, including academics, to develop comprehensive system architectures and specifications, focusing on the integration of subsystems and balance of plants.

Technical Analysis and Modelling:

  • Conduct rigorous technical analysis and modelling to validate the performance and efficiency of hydrogen fuel cell systems, with a keen focus on thermal management and safety considerations.
  • Use advanced simulation tools and methodologies to optimise system performance and address integration challenges effectively.

Systems Requirement Management:

  • Define and manage comprehensive systems requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives, regulatory standards, and customer expectations.
  • Implement robust requirements traceability and verification processes to validate system performance and compliance throughout the development lifecycle.

Validation and Verification:

  • Develop and execute thorough validation and verification plans to ensure the integrity and safety of hydrogen fuel cell propulsion systems.
  • Coordinate testing activities and analyse results to validate system performance against established requirements, driving continuous improvement and optimisation.

Product Development Lifecycle:

  • Lead the product development lifecycle, from conceptualisation and preliminary design reviews (PDR) to detailed design phases and critical design reviews (CDR).
  • Apply aerospace industry standards and best practices to drive the qualification and certification of hydrogen fuel cell propulsion systems.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in systems engineering, with a focus on hydrogen fuel cell propulsion systems (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong background in thermal management and safety processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in integrating complex subsystems into cohesive systems.
  • Proficiency in systems requirement management, validation, and verification methodologies.
  • Prior experience in product development within the aerospace industries is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
