Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Children’s Social Worker to join a Local Authority’s Safeguarding Hub in the Sheffield area. They are looking for someone to work 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 08:45-17:00 – this is on a block-booking basis.

In this role, the successful applicant will work as a key member of a Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub with the primary function of undertaking screening and responding to all new referrals into children’s social care. You will be a member of a team delivering high quality effective services to children, young people and their families/carers.

Key Duties:

  • Hold and effectively manage a caseload of complex cases
  • Carry out investigations, assessments, management of risk, as well as writing reports, give evidence in court and providing a professional opinion of work with children and young people in care
  • Build relationships with children, young people, and their families/carers as the basis for all support and child protection responses. Provide support tailored to meet individual child and family needs
  • Work with partner agencies where there is concern about the safety and welfare of children and triangulate evidence to ensure robust conclusions are drawn
  • Recognise harm and risk indicators of different forms of harm or children and young people relating to various forms of abuse and neglect
  • Carry out in-depth family assessment of social need and risk to children, with particular emphasis on risk, parental capacity and capability to change
  • Determine whether there is sufficient safety of a child to remain with the family and the support needed for that to happen
  • Make realistic, evidence-based, child centred plans within a review timeline, which will manage and reduce identified risks and meet the needs of the child
  • In cases of significant harm and child protection, carry out investigations, compiling reports to case conferences and courts in accordance with statutory procedures and best practice and where appropriate, arrange accommodation for those at risk

Requirements:

  • Social Work England registration
  • Experience of managing a diverse, complex caseload
  • Significant post qualification experience of working with children, young people and their carers in a statutory setting
