Salary: MPS/UPS: £30,000 - £46,525 per annum

GSL Education’s North Yorkshire Branch is actively searching for a dynamic and qualified Religious Education Teacher in York for a thriving Secondary school, with the position to start in September 2024. As a Religious Education Teacher, you should be enthusiastic about teaching students a comprehensive curriculum in Religious Education and be committed to delivering high standard lessons and helping to raise attainment within the Humanities Department.

Religious Education Teacher Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver GCSE and A-Level Religious Education lessons that engage students, foster critical thinking, and promote understanding and respect for different beliefs and cultures.
• Engage with a proactive Religious Education Department that has a clear mission and guiding principles.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment that respects the diverse religious and non-religious backgrounds of students.
• Track pupil progress and provide intervention sessions where appropriate.
• Be an enthusiastic and creative educator in the classroom.
• Enhance the learning behaviours of the students.

Religious Education Teacher Requirements:

• Have UK Qualified Status Teacher (QTS) through a PGCE in Secondary Religious Education, B.Ed. with QTS or equivalent.
• Experience covering or teaching Religious Studies to secondary students within the last 2 years.
• A relevant Degree or have completed an SKE course relevant to Religious Education or Philosophy and Ethics.
• Have a deep understanding of religious and philosophical traditions, including major world religions.
• Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a DBS through GSL Education. DBS sponsorship is available for this position.
