We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Lead who prefers to spend the majority of their time on-site, supporting the delivery of environmental and sustainability excellence. In this role, you will take the lead in providing advice and education, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting environmental innovation for sustainable growth. Your exceptional communication skills will be crucial as you collaborate with colleagues, clients, and statutory regulators. Here are some of the activities you will be involved with.

• Conduct complex environmental assessments and create plans aligned with the environmental management system.

• Manage a small team (Environmental Advisor and Senior Environmental Advisor), providing mentoring and technical advice.

• Ensure work aligns with legal requirements, offering protection to the environment.

• Drive the provision of accurate environmental data through monitoring, analysis, and reporting of environmental performance.

• Conduct inspections and audits in line with ISO 14001, permits, and environmental legislation, recording non-conformance and implementing improvement recommendations.

• Identify compliance themes and develop plans to address them. • Provide incident management support and advice to operational teams, promoting environmental best practices.

• Ensure incidents and near misses are reported, categorized, and corrective actions are taken, leading environmental investigations.

• Review projects for environmental investigation and support the Head of Environment in developing and implementing business initiatives, plans, and strategies. We invite applications from candidates who can demonstrate: Significant experience working in an environmental role within the construction or utilities industry and leadership experience in managing a team. An environmental degree is desirable, and industry-relevant experience is vital, along with being a practitioner or full member of an environmental body. Involvement in managing complex environmental projects, including data management, reporting and leading investigations and presenting findings and recommendations. Along with expert knowledge of environmental legislation relevant to civil engineering industries.
