This provision provides opportunity for young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and is looking to add impactful talent onto their staff. This HLTA position will work closely with students with the intention of creating a positive attitude to learning in a safe environment. This role is highly rewarding because it is challenging, and individuals with tenacity, enthusiasm and good communication thrive in HLTA roles.

About The School:

The school prides itself on offering an alternative secondary provision that goes beyond traditional education. Situated in the heart of Somerset, the school is dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

The school caters to students who have had a tough start in life and have experienced degrees of Trauma previously, therefore they will need support in regulating emotions. Most students will have additional needs such as ASC and SLCN's also.

The provision have a structured timetable with a high focus on gaining Maths and English GCSE's and enrichment and life skills based learning. There may be some gaps in learning so Primary experienced teachers will also be considered.

A HLTA will:

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and tenacity to work in sometimes challenging and highly rewarding environment
  • Maintain highest level of professional standards set out by the provision
  • Have experience working with SEN as a HLTA, or possess a willingness to learn and develop alternative approaches to meet diverse needs of the students
  • Commit to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Possess a compassionate and empathetic approach to education
  • Have experience in de-escalation (desirable), training will be provided.
