Support Worker

Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Learning Disability Support Worker to join a Local Council’s Short Term Breaks team in the Wrexham area on an ongoing contract. They are looking for someone who can work both sleep in shifts and days, on a block booking basis.
The successful candidate will be working service users who have got physical and learning disabilities to enable them to fulfil their person-centred plans, promoting positive outcomes and maximise independence. You will be based within a supported living service, where there is a range of individual needs, including challenging behaviour, communication difficulties, and some people will have acquired brain injuries.
Key Duties:
- Assisting and supporting individuals in day to day personal/practical care tasks, in line with their individual needs, which may include assisting with personal hygiene, cooking, general tasks, etc.
- Assisting and supporting individuals to access and accompany them in community based activities.
- Implement the service user’s individual care plan and assist in the development, implementation and review of the delivery plans.
- Participate in maintaining personal and financial records.
- Communicate effectively and in the best interests of the supported person (reviews, team meeting, family discussions, etc).
Requirements:
- Experience of working with Adults with Learning Disabilities
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- Registration with Social Care Wales (this can be done after you have started the role)
